The Mission of Theatre Odyssey
“To contribute, in innovative ways, to raising the community’s social awareness and spirit through the art of theatre, while maintaining a nurturing environment to encourage, challenge, and inspire actors and writers.”
Plays
Plays should be able to be presented in ten minutes (within a one-minute variance) and cast size should not exceed five actors. (Actors may play multiple roles within a play). Plays that run over-time will be edited at the discretion of the director (in collaboration with the playwright, when possible).
The Process

Plays improperly submitted (see Submission Requirements below) must be discarded.

Properly submitted plays will be marked with a number for cross-reference to the playwright’s name and contact information.

The required cover letter will then be separated from the play copies.

Three readers will anonymously review all works and multiple plays will be selected as finalists for presentation at the festival.

Selected plays will be announced in January 2009.
- Actors will be selected through an audition process through Theatre Odyssey (some actors may be used for more than one play) and rehearsed in the roles by the director selected by Theatre Odyssey.
Submission Requirements (Update will be available in early Fall 2010)
In determining our submission requirements, we’ve attempted to focus on providing all submitters an equal chance. The three readers (who will NOT be the adjudicators) will base their selection solely on specific criteria. The fee schedule encourages the submission of one play – it's FREE – but discourages multiple submissions by charging a fee. However, all plays will be given equal consideration.

3 ANONYMOUS copies of each play submitted (plays displaying the author’s name must be discarded)

No more than three plays may be submitted

Submission Fees:
- One Submission: No Fee
- Two Submissions: $15 Fee

Three Submissions: $30 Fee
- Deadline: Entries must be received by December 31, 2009 to be considered. For the playwright’s peace of mind, non-selected plays will be shredded and discarded.
