“In 2013, Theatre Odyssey has reached a new milestone. We have, for the first time, received support for our season from generous benefactors. SCENE Magazine, Gerri Aaron and Gulf Coast Community Foundation are our 2013 Season Sponsors. This support is integral to our ability to fulfill the objectives of our company to encourage and promote the efforts of local playwrights and actors.
For actors, Theatre Odyssey shares profits from productions so that some compensation is provided for an actor’s time commitment. For playwrights, Theatre Odyssey offers a potential means of play production and a fair source for feedback on a given work. While our Ten Minute Play Festival is approaching its eighth annual production in March of this year, we have in 2013 introduced a Student Playwriting Festival. The first annual event will take place on January 25th at 7:30PM at the David S. and Ann V. Howard Theatre located at the State College of Florida, Bradenton Campus. This type of endeavor would not be possible without the support of our Season Sponsors so we thank them for encouraging the emerging playwrights from our local high schools.”
