Need a voice-over reel? Here’s an effective, economical solution.
Theatre Odyssey, responding to 2020’s COVID-19 crisis, chose to record and podcast the ten-minute plays which were finalists in its Fifteenth Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival. Audio recording equipment was purchased, and a technical director was retained, to professionally record the plays. The eight plays were safely recorded (per CDC guidelines) using the Bradenton Kiwanis Theater at Manatee Performing Arts Center. The initial podcast ended in early October.
From this experience and consistent with its mission to nurture the regional writing and acting community, Theatre Odyssey has developed a service to create audio recordings for actors and playwrights. Such recordings can be used for an actor or playwright to promote their ability and work to others. Limited video additions (credits, graphic images, photographs) may be included with the audio recordings.
Cost of services:
-
- $50.00 per hour for recording service. (Includes the rental of audio equipment and the services of a technical director for operation, plus a range of sound effects.)
-
-
- Minimum service period is one-hour.
- Beyond the one-hour minimum, service is billed for minimum thirty-minute increments.
-
-
- $15.00 set-up and strike.
Example of cost: A one-hour and seventeen-minute recording session would be charged at one-hour and thirty minutes—$75.00. With the $15.00 set-up and strike fee added, the total cost would be $90.00.
A quiet facility is required for recording and must be provided by the actor or playwright. (Theatre Odyssey can arrange for a facility for an additional charge.) Playwrights are reminded that they are responsible for engaging actors for the roles in their plays, and such actors should be experienced in radio theater.
An audio file is produced and becomes the property of the playwright or actor.
