On November 1st and 2nd there will be readings of Bernard Yanelli’s new full length play entitled America’s Forgotten Prince at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School. The readings will start at 7:30 p.m. followed by brief talkbacks with the playwright, director, and cast. There is no admission charge.
The play chronicles four tense days in the life of young Philip Hamilton and centers on his tumultuous relationship with his famous father, Alexander, whom he both idolizes and resents. The play is based upon Yanelli’s earlier play Undaunted, winner of Sarasota’s Players Theatre New Play Festival in 2010.
America’s Forgotten Prince will return to New York in March 2014 for its second professional reading directed by Blake Walton.
The cast is Tyler Gardella, Don Walker, Tom Aposporos, Lillian Moore, Delia Revard, Ben Kalish, Anna Trinci, and Anthony Chase.
Yanelli is also the author of A Little Help!, winner of Theatre Odyssey’s Eighth Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival in March 2013. Several members of the cast are veterans of Theatre Odyssey productions.
Saint Stephen’s is located at the intersection of Manatee Avenue and 39th Street West in Bradenton (across from a Publix shopping center).
