Theatre Odyssey announced that the winning play of this year’s annual Student Ten-Minute Playwriting Festival was Elevate My Life written by Joseph Grosso from Lakewood Ranch High School and the play will again be presented at Theatre Odyssey’s Ninth Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival being held this year May 1-4, 2014. The Festival will take place at the Jane B. Cook Theatre at the FSU/Asolo Center for the Performing Arts, 5500 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
Cinda Goeken directed Elevate My Life. Actors were Stephen Pustai, Donna DeFant, Connie Farris, Rod Rawlings, Chuck Conlon and Mary Jo Johnson. Mr. Grosso received a $300.00 cash prize for his work along with a trophy that will be on display at Lakewood Ranch High School for one year. Second place went to Jenna Greenfield also from Lakewood Ranch High School for her play The Gate directed by Mark Woodland and featuring actors Carly Alise Baker and Summer Begalka. Ms. Greenfield received a $100.00 cash prize.
