Jill Schroeder (Andrea) — Over the past two years, Jill has been fortunate enough to discover the joy of reading and performing new works. She worked for many years on regional stages in the Midwest and has been seen most recently at The Sarasota Players in Lateral Moves and Winter Flowers. She is thrilled to have this opportunity to work so closely with such a talented group of creative souls.

Jenny Aldrich Walker (director) first appeared at Theatre Odyssey auditions in 2011 dragging her husband and favorite playmate, Don Walker, behind her. He got cast. She didn’t. Since then, she’s performed in nine of their plays, directed three, and is excited to be working with such a talented cast and playwright. Jenny, a retired member of Actor’s Equity, spent over sixty years in the theatre in nine states and five countries. Since coming to Sarasota, she often appeared with Don at The Golden Apple, and later at Banyan Theater and FST, then in St Pete at American Stage and freeFall Theaters. She is currently touring in Charting the Lost Continent for Sarasota Jewish Theatre, recently appeared as Mary Cassatt at the Tampa Museum of Art and here at the Cook as a Russian peasant in The Three Sisters for the FSU/Asolo Conservatory. Eric Leventhal (playwright) is a business owner in Sarasota, Florida. He enjoyed a prolific career in marketing and branding as a copywriter and creative director. He is a graduate of the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He was raised and born in Boston. Prior to that he was a schnauzer named Muffin.

Shawn Genther (John) — Originally from Easton, PA, Shawn came to Florida in 2003 and has been acting here since about 2005. Starting in local theatre, he has been in several productions; favorites include The Rainmaker (Jimmy), Greetings! (Andy), The Sensuous Senator (Jack), and The Pirates of Penzance (Samuel). He also appeared in Macbeth (Ross) and in True West. Shawn now focuses mostly on local film work, appearing on Shark Week and a few local commercials. Several of his short films have won awards at local film festivals as well. You may have seen Shawn on the Venice stage in Cat on Hot Tin Roof, Born Yesterday, and To Kill a Mockingbird. By day Shawn is a Desktop Engineer at Zenith Insurance in Sarasota.
Maggie Mandell (Jane) resides in Sarasota, Florida. She played the character Rachel Barnes in the short film Barely Inspired, shown at the Sarasota Film Festival in 2017. She was cast as Marcy in the play Lateral Moves which won Best New Play in the Player’s Studio New Play Festival in June 2022. Maggie was cast as Annie in the play Robots of Walmart in the Player’s Studio New Play Festival June 2023. Maggie is a cast-member of Thread Playback Theatre Group, and has taken dramatic and comedic improv workshops in Tel Aviv, Israel, and has completed the improvisation program at Florida Studio Theatre. Maggie is studying at the State College of Florida seeking a degree in Occupational Therapy.
Brice Carlton (Jim) is an actor, playwright, director, and novelist with aspirations in the film and theatre entertainment industry. He is most known for his portrayal as Prince Hans in Disney’s Frozen: The Broadway Musical, Nick Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and The Wizard in The Wizard of Oz. He has directed his award-winning play The Death of Brennan Doyle at Parrish Community High School. He grew to online popularity for his enthusiasm towards animal rescue and continues to make films of his own on YouTube. He attends State College of Florida.
J.K. Musser (director) is a writer, director, director of photography, video editor, musician, theatre instructor, and marketing manager. J.K. holds an M.F.A. in Directing, B.A. in Theatre, and studied at The Motion Picture Institute, H.B. Studio, and Meisner Technique Studio. Michelle Pascua (playwright) is pleased to find that she is again part of Theatre Odyssey’s Ten-Minute Play Festival. She is a New York City native who currently resides in Celebration, Florida. Her work has been published and performed in venues around the world. Her plays Single Rider and In Remembrance won first place in Theatre Odyssey’s 15th and 18th annual Ten-Minute Play Festivals, respectively. When not writing, Michelle can often be found at Disney World, secretly feeding the neighborhood crows in hopes of amassing her very own corvid army, or getting spectacularly beaten on game night by her husband and son. Michelle is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild.

Lucy Manuel (Dana) — Raised in Sarasota doing local theatre at the Players Theatre. Grew up in the Sarasota Opera House in Sarasota Youth Opera. Attended AMDA, the college and conservatory for performing arts in Los Angeles, where I received my Bachelor’s in musical theatre. I have done a few shows after graduating but dedicated most of my time to my two beautiful children, Anastasia and Ezekiel.
Jeffery Kin (Keller) — Lured to the area for its lively cultural arts scene in 1991, Jeffery has been an award-winning actor, director, producer and playwright, but is likely known for his 15 years as the creative force behind The Players Theatre. A graduate of Otterbein University with a BFA in Performance, Jeffery loves our region and enjoys the many opportunities to direct, produce, teach and sometimes act! Jeffery’s next adventure is producing The Living Arts Festival – Sarasota, an annual arts-centric festival for our cultural coast in November of 2024. James Kassees (director) has been an actor, improvisor, director and writer for 45 years. He appeared in The Suffragette’s Murder as well as The Secret Wisdom of Trees in two consecutive Summer Play Reading Festivals (Florida Studio Theatre); as an understudy for Morning After Grace (Asolo Rep); in a staged reading of Into the Night (What/She/Said Theatre); in Damaged Goods (Players); in We All Fall Down (Sarasota Jewish Theatre); and as Richard Nixon in In Whom We Trust (Theatre Odyssey). James is also an active member of the Sarasota Area Playwrights Society. He is thrilled to be making his Theatre Odyssey directorial debut. Love to Barb.
Keith Whalen (playwright) — Keith’s plays have been produced across the country and internationally. In September, his play The Beauty of Numbers (directed by Keith) won Excellence in Playwriting and Excellence in Directing awards from the Theatre Association of NY State, won Best Short Production in the TANYS festival in November, and will go on to compete in the Eastern States Theater Association festival in the spring of 2024. His play White Angel won Best Play in Theatre Odyssey’s Sixteenth Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival. His play Youth for Dark won Best Play in the Tales from the Brookside Festival, was a semifinalist in the 46th Annual Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival, and was a part of Theatre Odyssey’s Seventeenth Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival. His play Exophilia was an Official Selection of the short play division of the 2023 Lanford Wilson New American Play Festival in July, and in October was produced at the Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre at SMSU. Keith is a proud member of The Dramatists Guild.

Tron Montgomery (Harold Newton) — Buckle your seatbelts, because this ball of energy is not only proud to be doing what he loves, but he’s excited to be performing in front of YOU. Born and raised in South Florida Pompano Beach but now living his best life in St. Petersburg, Tron Montgomery as most would say “That Got-Damn TRON” is no stranger to the stage, from countless musicals and stageplays, Ain’t Misbehavin’, The Wiz, Sister Act, The Temptations Revue, Katonga and many more. Hell, he’s even written and produced his own sell-out stageplay, Hooked On a Bad Spirit. That Got-Damn TRON gives all thanks to friends and his supporters for keeping his thespian flame lit. Now get off this boring playbill and enjoy the show.
Rickey Tedesco (Alfred Hair) has appeared on West Coast Black Theatre Troupe’s stage in Dreamgirls, Black Nativity, and Joyful Joyful. He has had lead roles in musicals through State College of Florida. He is a 24-year-old aspiring entertainer. Rickey has played trumpet and french horn since high school, continuing french horn through State College of Florida as well as gaining lessons for piano, dance, and singing (done inside and outside of college). After graduating from the State College of Florida, Rickey now plans to pursue cruise ship performing and gigging for quality events. He plans to receive a bachelor’s degree in either Musical Theater or Music production in the future, while pursuing a dream to make it to Broadway.
Alan Kitty (Mr. James) — Best known for his portrayal of Mark Twain in one-man shows across the US, Alan credits Circle in the Square Theater School’s Terry Hayden (1921-2019) for whatever craft he manages to display. His work has been seen in musicals, comedies and dramas in New York and on tour for five decades. He also wrote and produced “Reel Exposure” for Manhattan Cable. Alan’s Sarasota debut was as Phillipe in Heroes, produced by The Banyan Theater. He has since appeared in a number of productions in Sarasota County, and is thrilled to return to the Theatre Odyssey stage.
William Ashburn (Mr. Backus) has recently performed at the Sarasota Players in Pass Over and The Mantle. A proud graduate of the SCF Theatre and Booker VPA Theatre program, he’s excited to be back working with Theatre Odyssey.
Yinoelle Colon (Mary Ann Carroll) is an actress, director and acting coach from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Throughout her acting career she participated in plays including The Tempest, Keely & Du, Water by the Spoonful, Killer Joe, and A Chorus Line, among others. As a director, she worked in productions of A Bachelors Holiday, My Mother’s Butt, The Letter M and the musical Hair in Puerto Rico and the Manship Theatre in Baton Rouge. She is happy to join the Festival for the first time.
Travis Ray (director) directed Steam Fog and Eternity during Theatre Odyssey’s Ten-Minute Play Festival last season, while serving as Assistant Director on Flyin’ West under Chuck Smith at Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe. His other director credits include staged readings of Skeleton Crew, Crumbs for the Table of Joy, Lil & Louis and Yellowman. He holds an M.F.A in Theatre Management/Arts Administration from the University of Alabama, B.A. in Theatre Performance from Alabama State University, completed an Arts in Health Intensive at the University of Florida and a Directing Intensive at Yale University. In addition, Ray teaches Acting 1 at New College of Florida, is a certified yoga instructor, and owns Dapper Bowtique, an online bow tie and accessories business at www.dapperbowtique.com. He is married to Jonah Ray, and they have a 7-year-old doggie son named Chance.
Don Salvo (playwright) is a produced and published playwright whose works have been mounted from New York to Miami and across the country. His play, Unraveled, was a finalist for the Heideman Award for Drama and received two off-Broadway productions. Don is co-founder of the Playwrights Lab at the Pittsburgh Public Theatre, has taught playwriting in Stetson University’s Lifelong Learning program and was a Fellow in the School of Speech and Drama at Northwestern University. As a member of Actors’ Equity, Don performed in over 60 musical productions with the Kenley Players. He has earned B.S., M.Ed., and M.S.Ed. degrees and currently teaches Playwriting, Broadway Musicals, and Acting courses at Celebration Lifelong.

Charlie Tyler (Sol) has been acting, off and on, for over sixty years, managing to sandwich in a long career in education as a teacher, counselor, and principal, between roles. He has appeared in more than 50 shows, most recently with the Laurel Oak Players in Half Baked. Some of his favorite shows are Harvey, Educating Rita, Greater Tuna, The House of Blue Leaves, Born Yesterday, The Glass Menagerie, The Price, and A View From the Bridge. A lifelong lover of Shakespeare, Charlie has taught adult Shakespeare workshops for over 20 years.

Dylan Jones (director) has written (The Best Ten Minutes Ever, 2017), directed (Single Rider, 2020), and acted in (Stormy, 2009) a Theatre Odyssey Ten-Minute Play Festival winner. He graduated from New College of Florida with a B.A. in Literature/Theater; his thesis was an original musical based on the poem Beowulf. His plays Connections (2011) and Polys (2018) were finalists in The Players Centre New Play Festival. Major acting roles to date include “Tom” in The Glass Menagerie (2014), “Brutus” in Julius Caesar (2017), and “Felix” in The Odd Couple (2018). He is the owner of Little Grey Hat Productions, producing award-winning shows including The Last Five Years (2014), Copenhagen (2015/16), and The Remnant (2017), and offering classes in writing ten-minute, one act, and full-length plays, as well as on theater history and script analysis. He sends eternal gratitude to his family and his partner Rylie Dexter.
Donna Sorbello (playwright) — Donna’s theatre works have been produced In Florida at Studio 620 and the Tampa Bay Festival. Other locales of produced work include as a past winner of the Robert J Pickering award, (Co-operative Living), the New Market International Festival, Boston Theatre Marathon, International Festival for Peace and Justice, Women on Top, Turtle Lane Theatre, Priscilla Beach Theatre, Equity Library Theatre at Lincoln Center, et al. She has been a past finalist for the Eugene O’Neill Center and the Kennedy Center College competition. Her historical novel for middle-school girls is Daughter of Liberty, Latticework Press (Barnes & Noble, Amazon), combines American Revolutionary history with magical realism. A professional, award-winning actress (Independent Reviewers Best Actress for Orpheus Descending), her theatre, film, and television credits range from being Jennifer Garner’s mother (Invention of Lying) to King Lear’s daughter (Northeast Shakespeare Ensemble). A sampling of her long list of diverse theatre roles include various Tennessee WIlliams plays (Glass Menagerie, Night of the Iguana), Shaw(Candida), Sarah Ruhl (Clean House), to British comedies (Hay Fever) and Ayckbourn (How the Other Half Loves). Ms. Sorbello teaches playwriting and acting, both online and in-person (BHCC) and was past Director of Emerging Playwrights, a program for inner-city students. A graduate of Emerson College (Theatre/English) and the Masters Program in Playwriting at Boston University (with Derek Wolcott), she is a proud member of Dramatists Guild, NPX, Actors’ Equity and Screen Actors Guild-AFTRA.

Phillippe Koenig (Georges)—Prior to moving to Sarasota in 2013, Phillippe was active in community theater in the Boston area, with the Arlington Friends of the Drama, the Burlington Players, and the Winchester Players. He was stage manager for many shows and also performed, including Arms and the Man, The Lady’s Not for Burning, Sorry Wrong Chimney, The Man with the Plastic Sandwich (title role), Night of the Iguana, To Kill a Mockingbird, and others. He was also a supernumerary with the Boston Ballet, the Boston Lyric Opera, and the Boston Opera Company, and with the visiting British Royal Ballet, in Manon. Highlights included being the waiter at the Café Momus in La Boheme, and the title character in The Consul, opera by Gian Carlos Menotti. He has also been a “super” with the Sarasota Opera (in Il Trovatore, Don Carlos, and The Golden Cockerel). Substantial ballroom dance experience, including a few competitions, and (until COVID) was still active as a springboard diver.
Riselle Bain (Natasha) — Previous credits include portraying Eva Peron in the First National Tour of Evita; Hodel in Sacramento Civic Light Opera’s Fiddler on the Roof; Principle in 8 Track, The Music of the 70’s, Players Theatre; Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls Arts Center DeLand FL; Irma in Irma La Douce, Philadelphia. Riselle dances with The TapKats! She loves to perform her one-woman show “My Life Through Music and Photos” and “A Celebration of Broadway Divas”. Lynda StJames (director) hails from Massachusetts where she got her BS/MS in Theater Education at Emerson College. Lynda spent several years in Los Angeles where she toured with the Andy Williams GoodTime Singers, performed in many stage productions and appeared in TV shows The Waltons and Eight is Enough. Lynda returned to Massachusetts to finish her graduate degree and teach middle and high school drama. She produced and directed several award-winning student plays and co-directed the Emerson College Summer Theater for teens. After running her own model and talent agency, the Cameo Agency, for 20+ years, Lynda retired to Sarasota and got involved in the local theatre scene. She’s been in productions at Theatre Odyssey, MPAC, Venice Theatre, The Players, and recently the Sarasota Jewish Theatre.
Elan David Garonzik (playwright) is thrilled to be back at Theatre Odyssey, which produced his comedy Eternity at its Ten-Minute Play Festival in May 2023. At that festival, Lynda StJames received acclaim as the lead, and now Elan is pleased to work with Lynda again – for she directs Adulation at the current festival. Elan is the author of Scenes and Revelations, produced at the Goodman Theater in Chicago, off Broadway at The Production Company, and on Broadway at Circle in the Square, with numerous regional and academic productions – during 2022 it was produced by NYU’s Tisch School of Drama. His play The Blue Mercedes was produced at Actors Theater of Saint Paul. His new drama focuses on the passionate and tragic life of Adèle Hugo, Victor Hugo’s youngest daughter. Elan is the recipient of a Shubert Fellowship and the Marc Klein, Audrey Wood, and New Words of Merit playwriting awards, and holds an MFA in Theatre from Carnegie-Mellon University. Long a New Yorker and now in the Fort Lauderdale area, Elan is a member of the Dramatists Guild, the Playwrights Center, the New Play Exchange, and, for the Adèle Hugo drama, London Playwrights Workshop.

Anuj Naidu (Vincent) is honored to be performing again at Theatre Odyssey. Most recently Anuj has performed in The Graduate at The Sarasota Players and The Odd Couple (Female Version) at The Island Players. Other plays from past Theatre Odyssey festivals include The Deadline and What Are You Looking At? Anuj would like to thank his family, friends, and the community for supporting his on stage adventures.
James Thaggard (director) earned his B.A. in theatre from Auburn University, and over the past four decades has performed or directed on nearly every stage between Anna Maria and Venice. James is a recent retiree from State College of Florida, where he served as an actor, director, playwright, lyricist, choreographer and/or stage manager for more than 60 productions with SCF’s outstanding theatre and music programs. He is the author of several one-acts and full-length mysteries and is delighted to work once again with Theatre Odyssey, having directed our 2016 productions of Silences and Chopping Celery.
Michael Anthony Mercado (playwright) — As a lifelong creator of characters and stories, Michael Anthony Mercado embarks on a new adventure as a playwright and is thrilled to be one of the eight finalists to be featured in Theatre Odyssey’s Nineteenth Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival. By day, he holds the esteemed position of Director of Education for Be Aveda Institutes Florida, where his passion for shaping minds extends beyond the world of theater. Onstage, Michael has had the privilege of contributing to productions such as Oliver! (The Artful Dodge), The Wiz (ensemble), and most recently, assuming the role of the Criminologist/Narrator in The Rocky Horror Show at the Manatee Performing Arts Center. When he’s not immersed in the world of storytelling, Michael shares his life with his husband, three kids, and their beloved English bulldog. Balancing the stage with the joys of family life serves as a continual source of inspiration for this multifaceted individual. Grateful for the opportunity to share his work alongside talented fellow playwrights in this festival, Michael hopes that his play resonates with the audience, contributing to the rich tapestry of theatrical experiences on display.

David Sevensky (Herb) has performed in many NY theaters including The Westchester Broadway Theatre, Tarrytown Music Hall, The Emelin Theatre, White Plains Center for the Performing Arts, and Manhattan Repertory Theater. He recently relocated to Venice, Florida, and has been impressed with the Sarasota County theater scene. He has voiceovers, comedy improv, recordings, and industrials to his credit and was a recipient of the Irene Ryan Award for Excellence in Acting.
Nellie O’Brien (June) has performed at The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, The Westchester Broadway Theatre, Tarrytown Music Hall, The Emelin Theatre, White Plains Center for the Performing Arts, Manhattan Repertory Theater, Salt City Center, The Performing Arts Foundation and, most recently, as Linda in Sarasota Jewish Theater’s production of We All Fall Down. She is so happy to be back with Theatre Odyssey after appearing in last year’s one-act play fest as Robyn in Mockingbird’s Nest. A former broadcast journalist, Nellie is the president of Compelle! Communications. Special thanks to her lovely and talented director, Aden; the charming creative playwright, Fred; and her favorite leading man in life and on the stage, David Sevensky.
Aden Russell (director) — Hailing from the Metro-Detroit area, Aden earned her membership in the Screen Actors Guild, the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists, and Actors’ Equity Association, early in her acting career, while working in the U.S. & Canada. She moved to Orlando, then Sarasota, for family and a career change, and in 2019 reignited her passion for the theater by starring in The Underpants for the Players Theater. Recently, Aden was seen onstage as Dracula in Dracula, Aunt Nan in We All Fall Down, Olivia Glatt in Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play, and Grandma Jones in Let it Be. Fredric Sirasky (playwright) had three previous Odyssey productions: Bob’s, Happy Mother’s Day and Clarinet Licks (which took second place in 2016). His comedy Mongolian Idiot was performed Off-Broadway at Manhattan Punch Line and published by Samuel French. Tandem (one-act) was produced at the Philadelphia Festival Theatre of New Plays; and Tandem (full-length) was performed at Horton-by-the-Stream in Tannersville, NY. Grabass, Passed the Final Bar, and Under the Pillow were performed in workshop at New York’s Ensemble Studio Theatre. As an actor, he had a featured role on Broadway in Manny, and as a singer/musician has performed in a variety of musicals throughout the Northeast.

Tami Vaughan (parent) — You may have seen Tami in Bradenton, Anna Maria, Sarasota and Parrish. She has appeared in many productions all over town. Her favorite role was Guenevere in Camelot. Tami has been involved with Theatre Odyssey for over 10 years and has participated in many Festivals. She is delighted to be back on stage once again as part of this year’s Ten-Minute Play Festival.
Tom Horton (Kid) is a Sarasota based actor originally from England. Some of his notable previous roles include, MacBeth in MacBeth, Biff in Death of a Salesman, and Victor Frankenstein in Frankenstein.
Elsie Rodrigues Souza (Passenger 1) is a New Bedford, Massachusetts, native whose paternal grandfather founded a Portuguese theater company there in the early 1900’s. Her parents continued the family pursuit and from an early age Elsie was involved in their numerous productions. A producer and director for First Night New Bedford and July 4th Celebrates, Elsie continues in that role as Event Manager at Bookstore1Sarasota and frequently as Narrator for Theater of the Mind. Elsie is a nineteen-year resident of Sarasota.
Tom Aposporos (Passenger 2) appears in twenty-one media commercials for Absolute Aluminum, is a founder of Theatre Odyssey, and has been portraying various characters with The Gothic Library “live” radio theater performances. He is building a one-person work as the iconic Sarasota architect Ralph Spencer Twitchell to premier later in 2024. He was a cast member of Theatre Odyssey’s radio theater production of Flying Solo With IBD when it was judged Best Play in Theatre Odyssey’s Ninth Annual Student Ten-Minute Playwriting Festival. Aden Russell (Flight Attendant) — Hailing from the Metro-Detroit area, Aden earned her membership in the Screen Actors Guild, the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists, and Actors’ Equity Association, early in her acting career, while working in the U.S. & Canada. She moved to Orlando, then Sarasota, for family and a career change, and in 2019 reignited her passion for the theater by starring in The Underpants for the Players Theater. Recently, Aden was seen onstage as Dracula in Dracula, Aunt Nan in We All Fall Down, Olivia Glatt in Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play, and Grandma Jones in Let it Be. She’s also appeared in several Theatre Odyssey plays. Her directing experience has been with original works. This is Aden’s Theatre Odyssey directing debut. Ren Pearson (Director) is a Graduate of the Ringling College of Design and artistic director for Gothic Library Productions presented by Theatre Odyssey. He has also enjoyed over a decade’s association with TO both onstage, offstage, and in-between. He is thrilled to be back in the director’s chair for this award-winning student production.
Spencer Emerson Opal-Levine (Playwright) wrote Flying Solo with IBD while in high school at the Pine View School in Osprey, Florida. Loosely based on Spencer’s own experiences living with Crohn’s disease, Flying Solo with IBD won the Kennedy Center’s 2020 VSA Playwright Discovery award in Washington, DC, and Florida Studio Theatre’s 2020 Young Playwrights Festival. The play, however, was never performed due to the pandemic. Spencer was thrilled when Theatre Odyssey’s Ninth Student Ten-Minute Playwriting Festival produced the play in radio format, and was honored when it was published in Ten-Minute Festival, Volume Four (2018-2021). He is excited to finally see this play performed on stage, and greatly appreciates Theatre Odyssey’s continued support. Spencer’s accomplishments include being the youngest winner of The Blank Theatre’s Young Playwrights Festival in Hollywood, California, and winning Theatre Odyssey’s Student Ten-Minute Playwrighting Competition Best Play scholarship award. His plays have been produced locally, nationally, and internationally. Spencer is currently a New College senior majoring in Political Science.

ADJUDICATORS
Andrei Malaev-Babel is the Director and Head of Acting of the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training. He serves on the advisory board of Stanislavsky Research Centre, UK and International Scientific Committee of Arti Dello Spettacolo-Performing Arts (Italy). His productions were presented at The Kennedy Center and The National Theater in Washington, DC. There, he also served as Producing Artistic Director for the Stanislavsky Theatre Studio (STS), an award-winning company and school in Washington, DC., and was nominated for a Helen Hayes Award as an Outstanding Director. He is the author of many books and articles on the art of acting and the history of Russian theatre. He is the leading specialist in the Demidov School of Acting, as well as the Head and Certifying Master Teacher of the Demidov Association. Professor Malaev-Babel is in demand internationally. He has been presenting at Stanford University; The Smithsonian Institution; The Odessa Philharmonic (Ukraine); Russian State Institute of Performing Arts (St. Petersburg); Teatro Escola Macunaima (Brazil); Rose Bruford College, The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (UK); University of Rome (Italy), and The Shanghai Theatre Academy (China). Most recently, he has been a recipient of the Fulbright Specialist Award from the US Department of State.
Emilia Sargent, Producing Artistic Director/CEO and co-founder of TampaRep, holds an MFA in Directing and Arts Administration from the University of Idaho, and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Auburn University. Emilia served as Director of Education Programs for TampaRep for nine years and she runs the Emilia Sargent Studio for voice and acting. Emilia brings her background in team leadership and project management from both engineering and artistic organizations to TampaRep, and it is her mission to produce thought-provoking, relevant, bold art that will serve the Tampa Bay community for decades to come. Her vision is to lead the company to its future as a thriving regional theatre, built on creative excellence and inclusivity, which enhances Tampa as a cultural destination and attracts professional theatre artists to make their artistic home in Hillsborough County. Emilia is an award-winning actor, director, singer, and educator who is best known in Florida for her award-winning portrayals of Kate Keller in All My Sons, The Pilot in the one-woman show, Grounded, Henrietta Leavitt in Silent Sky, and Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire. She has directed The Elephant Man, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Copenhagen and The Children’s Hour at TampaRep.
Steven Butler—A Sarasota native, Mr. Butler has returned home and is the Artistic Director for The Sarasota Players. During his time away from Sarasota, he was the Executive Director for the Florida Theatre Conference (FTC). In his early theatre years Mr. Butler worked as a professional actor throughout the country and eventually embarked upon directing. He is the Founder for Actors’ Warehouse (Gainesville, FL) which was honored to represent the United States at Mondial Du Théâtre International Amateur Theatre Festival (Monte Carlo, Monaco). Being of service to the theatre community has led Mr. Butler to have a presence on a regional level with the Southeastern Theatre Conference (Vice President of Administration), on the national level with the American Association of Community Theatre (Board of Directors) and on the international level with the International Amateur Theatre Association (United States Delegate).
